Long post but from the heart. <3
Some of you may be wondering, why is Jen doing this Beachbody thing?
I live a very healthy lifestyle and eat clean most of the time. But, I have carried a little extra weigh since Ashton’s birth. I knew that if I could exercise more it would make a big difference. But, there’s so many excuses….no time, no energy…you know the drill. While distracting myself on facebook (I seem to find time for that now, don’t I?) I started seeing posts from a girl, Gina that I didn’t even know. My husband, Joran went to high school with her and suggested that we be friends. Gina was doing a Beachbody program called 21 day Fix and getting really amazing results. Gina is a mom of 2 and we seemed to have a lot in common. I watched her on facebook for a few months (kinda weird, right?) just to see if she kept it up. Her posts became more and more inspiring to me. She told us all on facebook exactly what she was eating and how much she was exercising. The food she was eating was all real food that looked delicious and she was doing a 30 min. workout video most every day. I was really curious about the portion containers that she showed us too. It got me thinking, maybe I could do this too.
The only thing that I was skeptical about is the Shakeology that Gina kept raving about. In the past I’ve tried many protein shakes. I’ve never found one that I could digest well, they all give me problems. I also thought it was too expensive. So, I had preconceived notions that I wouldn’t be doing that part of it. I was really curious about the rest so I reached out to Gina and asked her about this 21 Day Fix thing. Gina filled me in on the plan and told me about her next challenge group (a private facebook group where a small group of people who are all using a beachbody plan support each other and complete small assignments daily to stay accountable). In order to get into the challenge group, I needed to buy a challenge pack. Gina gave me a link to look at the challenge pack options but I already knew I wanted the 21 day fix. And it happened to be on sale that week. The kicker though…the challenge pack comes with a month supply of Shakeology…on auto ship. I had already told myself, no Shakeology. But, I really wanted to try the whole system out. And after doing more research I could see why the shakes were more expensive than most protein powders, it’s because it is much more than that. Shakeology includes all your vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, some great herbs and superfoods and probiotics. OK, OK I thought, I’ll give it a try. Gina assured me that I could get a refund if I didn’t like it and that it would be easy to cancel the auto ship if needed. Well, 4 months later, I haven’t cancelled my auto ship. In fact, I’ve increased my order because sometimes I like two shakes a day, Joran is drinking it in the mornings and the kids like it on occasion too. And no, it doesn’t upset my digestion.
Since starting my 21 Day Fix and Shakeology I’ve experienced better energy levels, like enough to get me to make it through my afternoon, pick up the kids and still workout if I didn’t get to do it in the morning, make dinner, get the kids to bed, etc. I’ve also lost weight and I see muscles getting more defined each day. And another thing that I’ve resisted posting about because it’s kind of embarrassing…plantar warts that I’ve had for over 9 years on my heel (ever since Alchemy’s birth) have just gone away over the past 4 months. I’ve done nothing different so far treatment to the warts. The only thing I can think of is the Shakelogy because it works to fight inflammation in the body and enhance the immune system. Warts are a virus so it makes sense that if my immune system improved, so did my ability to fight the virus. Yesterday I got my first pedicure in years because I never wanted to get one when I had the warts. Needless to say, I’m pretty impressed with the Shakeology! I’m also really impressed with the genius of the 21 Day Fix Nutrition plan. The portion control containers take the guess work out of how much you should eat. It encourages clean eating and it works for all types of eating preferences from vegan to paleo. The 21 Day Fix workout DVD’s are pretty good too. You get a killer workout in just 30 minutes. It’s hard to make excuses about not having time to exercise when it just takes 30 minutes and you can do it at home. There’s a different workout for each day of the week so you hit all the muscle groups with time for recovery.
So that brings to me to why I’m so passionate about sharing this stuff with you guys. I look around and I see so many people who are not living the life they want. Some people come right out and complain while others seem to be doing OK but I can just tell that they want more. I see women judging their bodies and struggling to find the energy to get through the day. I see moms who are on the brink of losing it at any moment (that was me). With Beachbody, I feel like I’ve found the best tools around for getting healthier and increasing energy. On top of that, I’ve found a community of people who are passionate like me about helping others. I’m sharing this stuff because I can’t keep it to myself. If I can inspire one person to take charge of their life and make it a happier and more productive one, how could I not at least try?
There are no quick fixes that last, no magic pills that will make you skinny without changing your lifestyle. You have to do the work and you have to do it for life. But, you don’t have to do it alone. The tools and support are here for you to put into action. The doors have opened up to me and the future is bright! So, sit back and watch if you like. Unfollow me if I’m annoying you with all my “healthy happy life” stuff. Or reach out to me and let’s do this thing together!
