Practicing a new and full moon ritual helps me get in tune with my core desired feelings (according to The Desire Map) of connected, divine feminine, lit up and ease. The moon is so full of feminine energy. Honoring her makes me feel so connected to the Divine Feminine. I love to make mandalas like the one you see below from the stones that are offered in our Integral Church services. To give you a little background, my husband, Joran Oppelt is the founder of the Integral Church in St. Petersburg, FL. We are a small interfaith church that meets a couple times a month at the park or in the borrowed space of another church. Part of our service is the offering of the stones where people are invited to bring a stone, share what's on their heart, set an intention and then offer the stone to our "well". We are gathering an impressive collection of stone and shells filled with heartfelt expression. This powerful collection of energy resides in my home. About a year ago I felt called to tend to the stones. I will randomly stop by and offer them Reiki blessings, I draw upon their strength when I need it and every new and full moon I take the stones outside for some recharging.
In addition to bringing the stones outside and making a mandala I will typically light incense and candles and burn some sage for cleansing and protection. I may journal or just sit in meditation. Sometimes I write down what I want to release and manifest and then I burn it. Other times I may draw some tarot cards or other oracle cards asking what do I need to focus on during this moon phase. I always take a moment to reflect upon the people who have contributed to the well with their offerings and intentions and sent healing intentions back to them. This practice makes me feel connected, one of my most valued core desired feelings. I take my time with my moon rituals, instilling a sense of ease.I usually begin after my kids go to bed but, not always. Sometimes I include them. We may go on a full moon walk or I'll just ask them to sit quietly if they want to join me. They are curious but after a few minutes of trying to sit quietly, my 4 year old will let out a sigh and go back in the house. I think it's sweet to let them in to the practice but also like to claim some solitude. Most importantly, it's about ease and not allowing any stress to enter the ritual.
Thank you for allowing me to share more about my new and full moon practices. I've been sharing pictures and bits and pieces for awhile and figured it was time to explain the process for those who are curious about beginning their own moon rituals. I'd love to hear from you if you have a moon ritual practice or if you decide to begin one. What lights you up around this topic? I'd love to know that as well.
