This is my third year of claiming core desired feelings (via Danielle LaPorte’s, The Desire Map. In the past I’ve gone through lengthy processes to come up with my CDF’s. This year, I was reading a book on New Year’s Day and the word faith stood out. I grabbed a piece of paper, wrote it down and said yes, this is one of my CDF’s. I read a little more and flow was another word I had to write down. Then the others, abundance, joy, passion and love came pouring out of my pen. I thought maybe there would be more and then the refining process to narrow them down. But no. A little later I looked at this list and decided it was perfect. It was OK that it was easy. I started out in faith, got into the flow and then the rest just fell into place. That is the kind of life I want. Bring it on 2018!
White Hot Truth: Clarity for Keeping It Real on Your Spiritual Path from One Seeker to Another by Danielle LaPorte
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
White Hot Truth. It's divine. Quite simply, a gorgeous book. Full of so many down to earth truths. Danielle tells it like it is while making you feel like it's all going to be A OK. She cuts through the spiritual shadow side and gives us permission to let the guilt go, once and for all.
To be honest, I'm a big Danielle LaPorte fan. I started with the Desire Map Experience on Audible. Listened to it three times before I bought a hard copy. Then I went back to her first book, the Fire Starter Sessions. There's just something about Danielle. For audio books, her voice is captivating and sexy. Really easy on the ear. Her printed books are a design lovers dream come true. It's all in the details. But when it really comes down to it, the words on the page are what we show up for and Danielle has got a way with them. Poetic and practical.
White Hot Truth cuts right to the heart of what holds so many of us back from liberation and happiness. Danielle shares more of her stories that we can all relate to. And then she gives us that best girlfriend type of advice. The kind that doesn't hold back. She wraps it all up in some delicious poetry and I find myself floating for a moment. My shoulders relax, a smile turns up the corners of my mouth and maybe a tear or two are released.
Danielle LaPorte's work is simple but profound. Life changing but easy to read. Her words take you out of your head and into your soul. White Hot Truth is no exception. She's done it again. Do yourself a favor and dive in.

Inspired by the writings and #truthbombs of Danielle LaPorte
First, feed your soul.
How will you nourish your soul each and every day? What makes you shine? Think,
Second, get clear on how you want to feel.
Remember – Feeling good is the primary intention. Always keep your core desired
feelings in the front of your mind.
Third, decide what you are willing to do in order to feel the way you want to feel.
Write it, plan it, and get the proper tools and support to make it happen.
Note: The “doing” should include feeding your soul daily.
Fourth, love the necessary hard work.
Do as much as it takes, as long as it takes. Cherish every moment. Rest as needed.
Sometimes you have to fight for your joy
Today, this is how I fight for mine
By pausing the feed and the to-do's
Connecting with the mother in all of her perfect imperfections
Creating something beautiful
Calms my cluttered mind
It's a brand new day
Inspired by the words of Danielle LaPorte. Particularly, this... Fighting for Your Joy.
Desire Map Retreat: Thank You Mama
[October 8 – 9, 2016]
By: Meghan McAtasney
Words have power, we are powerful. Those are two of the most immediate truths I learned while attending Jennifer Oppelt’s Desire Map Retreat at Thank You Mama this past weekend. As one of five women who set out on this journey – the destination being way, way inside, where our core desired feelings hide – I discovered quite a few things about myself and this life that have ultimately changed me.
First, take a seat
For me, the hardest part has always been the beginning. Where do I start? Am I doing this right? Decision making stalls my activation, my creativity. This retreat was an invitation to be guided, to have little say in how things were planned, processed, or played. Yet, the outcome was powerful. All I had to do was take a seat. Right away, I noticed a white gift bag next to the cushion I picked and a card that read, “love the necessary hard work.” Being someone who has been completely overwhelmed with the to-do lists of a full-time working mother of four, I knew right away I was exactly where I needed to be. The right seat chose me.
Establish a connection
I scanned the room, observed. The smell, light, energy of the others around me, it was radiant. Before long, my journalist curiosity came creeping out. Who were these five other women in this circle? What are their stories? Will they judge me for my half-ass spiritual efforts, or my lack of meditation practice? I thought about the times I rejected things that felt too earthy or too stuck in previous decades, afraid I’d feel phony or strange. But when Jennifer got us talking, it was so entirely beautiful – so intrinsic. We were each in a different place, wanting completely separate things – but wide open. We’d blush when we were honest, or shed a tear because we felt broken. What we envied in the other made us smile. This was connection. This was authentic. This was raw. Was this sisterhood?
Work towards one collective goal
Then came some of the most necessary hard work I’ve ever been given: the writing portion. I made sure to get as comfy as possible during our writing exercises. I found rest on a heated massage bed in an empty room and let my pen do the heavy lifting. I was writing again – something I hadn’t been doing as often as soon as it became my job. But I wanted to discover truth, and had finally arrived at the right questions. What’s not working? What is? How can I be grateful for what I have with this innate longing to always want more? Now we were getting somewhere.
Pour your heart out
Now share. Release the worry, the stress, the times you felt like less than enough, let it burn. Time to put these feelings into words. Be still and silent, alert and rested. Listen to the soothing sound of Danielle LaPorte’s voice. Follow Jennifer’s guidance. Awaken your inner core. Share vision and fear. Find strength in the person sitting next to you. Declare it. How do you want to feel?
Keep the sacred space
The mapping was complete; we arrived at our core desired feelings. But when we left, would we still feel the strength of the sacred space we were leaving? I carried my words with me and admired the #truthbomb Jennifer selected for me: “Let your joy rise to the surface.” And in the days since, I’ve had the most wonderful conversations with the people I love. I feel full again; ready to laugh in the moments I formerly wanted to cry. I keep my sacred space with me in my car and at my desk at work. I let my mind find gratitude and peace in moments of chaos. Words have power, we are powerful.
My core desired feelings are treasured, carefree, replenished.
I am treasured. carefree. replenished.
How do I want to feel about my nutrition?
Today's lunch - tuna mixed with olive oil, salt & pepper on a red bell pepper boat topped with spouts and carrots.

My second Desire Map Retreat was a success! 5 lovely ladies took time for themselves and discovered their core desired feelings. We asked the big questions, we shared from our hearts, we released to the fire, we ate, we laughed and we cried. We left knowing that pleasure must become a priority in our lives. With an excitement about the future, we return to our lives with new perspectives and expectations. What a gift this work is. I am honored to facilitate it.
One of the things I love about Desire Mapping is the sheer beauty of it all. I've always loved color and pretty things. When began my Desire Map journey, I ran out and got myself a new set of colored pens. It makes me happy just taking those pens out and knowing that I'm about to scribble my deepest longings and gratitudes on a page. That moment of anticipation just before doing the works has become a cherished feeling. My colored pens and set the mood. Why all the fuss with the pretty colors? Wouldn't any old pen do? In a fix, yes. But I feel that when we use colors that delight us, we make the experience all the more special and that somehow our words sink in on a deeper level.
In my Desire Map retreats I provide all of the supplies that you need but I encourage my guests to find their own cherished set of writing tools that will be saved just for the purpose of Desire Mapping. What are your favorite pens to write and doodle with? I'd love to hear what works for you!
